How to Scrapbook Even Without Pictures

Scrapbooking without pictures can be a sad thing because you don't have photos of lifetime memories you want to share with your family and friends. But then you can find scrapbooking ideas that would help solve this problem. If you are planning to make a heritage scrapbook of your family history, there are practical ways on how to do this.

Look for Important Documents

One of the best scrapbooking ideas you can do is to search for important documents that would link a story in your scrapbooking. Use original or copied documents of the older generations of your family such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, school records, military records, newspaper clippings, census records, old letters and other similar items.

For example, if you put the marriage certificate of your great grandmother on a page, you can make a small narrative based on the document like the date, time and place of the wedding. Spice up these wonderful sentiments by putting pretty embellishments like ribbons or other pretty items that reflect weddings. Use your creativity and make these documents look significant in your scrapbooking.

Look for Memorabilia

Scrapbooking ideas such as vintage jewelry, embroidery, medals, postcards, buttons, pins, old books and so on may still be kept by older family members. You can place these items on your scrapbooking. Scrapbooking ideas like taking pictures and scanning them on your computer is a good thing. Place these scanned photos on your pages and embellish them with beautiful and colorful borders to make them stand out. You can then write some notes to tell the story behind these memorabilia. Journaling is still one of the best scrapbooking ideas that offer solutions when pictures are unavailable.

Be resourceful

What if you don't have any of these important items for your scrapbooking? Try to be more resourceful in using your scrapbooking ideas about this problem. You can ask your elders about their own memories of those times and make notes about them. You can use these notes to make a biography of the kind of life your great grandparents had during the early years. You can do a little research about the place where they lived or how people lived during those years and incorporate them into your family biography. Your biography would be more inspiring when you use some images or pictures sourced out from books which had the same years like those of your ancestors. If the ancestral house of your great grandparents is still there or at least you know where it is located, then take pictures of the place and include them in your narrative as well.

The idea of scrapbooking even without pictures is to use whatever valid information that conveys the history of your family. At this time, pictures may not be so important but the documents and memorabilia you placed on these scrapbook pages could still make family memories worth looking back to.
