Before you jump into structuring magazine scrapbooking, ensure that you have the fundamentals intact with you. A few indispensible things are listed below and must always accompany you as mandatory.

1) Album:

All the embellishments and the pictures would need a place to be intact. This is where the album would come into picture. The right size of the album needs to be determined. This could be decided based on the materials being planned for the scrapbook. Most often scrap bookers use scrapbook albums of the size 12x12. This again varies according to ones interest and idea and how they wish to see their scrapbooks. Besides the album size, you also need to ensure about the color and pattern chosen for your theme.

2) Refill pages:

One would not know the number of pages usually required for completing a scrapbook. Hence, it would be a good idea to keep refill pages matching your album. Refill pages are often sold in various sizes, in the market. It would therefore be a wise note to buy packs of them when you purchase the album. This would also help you to ensure that the quality of every page remains the same.

3) Sharp pair of scissors:

Your tool box should contain some good pair of scissors, without which a scrapbook would not be possible. This is perhaps one fundamental tool required to cut and shape out graphics so that they could be constructively designed.

Scissors which cut in shapes other than simply straight could also be purchased to give your cuttings a varied look. Such scissors are similar to those of pinking shears which are used in sewing. Specialized scissors come handy in cutting almost all decorative graphics and shapes for your subject.

4) Adhesives:

Adhesives come in various styles and sizes. Quite many of them are available in the market in the recent times. Beginners could get hold of adhesives which are acid free. These are also right for pictures and cardstock. Brands like Herma Dotto removable, Herma Vario wheel dispenser, 3L Click 'n' Stick Mounting squares etc could be planned for.

5) Varieties of Cardstock along with specialty and printed papers:

Along with the Scrapbook album, you would need to choose papers which work perfect for the chosen colors and theme. Your pages would look priceless when colored papers and cardstock is used as a highlighting option. You could buy card stock and papers at your local craft store as they often sell standalone sheets for every page.

6) Several Journal pens:

Pens having fine tips along with being permanent and acid-free would be best to choose in case of magazine scrapbooking; it would be needed for journaling. Pens having varied sizes of tips could be checked for finer handwriting.
